Description

Earth Candles Co. was born from a families passion for our environment, combined with a love of handcrafted soy candles. Handmade in Warkworth using only 100% natural soy wax, the scented soy candles are enjoyed by candle lovers throughout New Zealand.

With a strong focus on the reduction of waste. At Earth Candles Co. they salvage empty beer bottles from friends and various local businesses (in and around the Warkworth and Matakana area) and repurpose them into natural soy wax candles. They start the process by de-labelling and cleaning all bottles, then carefully cut the top off each bottle, and finally, grind and polish the edge leaving a smooth surface and completing the vessel in preparation for filling.

They hand-pour the soy wax for the candles into re-purposed wine and beer bottles, creating artisan candles with a piece of New Zealand within. Each of our five distinct core fragrances was chosen to evoke and create precious memories of our beautiful country.

Each handmade candle rests within its own glass vessel, which they make themselves from used wine and beer bottles. Not only does each vessel look attractive, but they can also be reused or recycled once the candle has burnt out.  They are proud of the care and attention we place in their creation, right through to their delivery at your home.

Each candle comes with a beautiful timber lid, no more dusty candles and they look great too when not burning.

Approximate Burn Times:
200g - Re-purposed Beer Bottle - 40Hrs

Five fragrances to choose from:

Raglan Vibes

Feel the vibes of this hippy seaside town. Breathe in the smell of the sun, sand, sea and surf at the spritz of Raglan Vibes a perfume inspired from the sights, sounds and smell of the town of Raglan. The fresh citrus and tropical fruit fragrances form the top notes that slowly meld into deeper spicy notes, so reminiscent of the vibrant and lovely Raglan and its community.

Lake Wanaka Retreat

Take relaxation to a whole new location. Enjoy a clean and delicate combination of bergamot, jasmine, ylang-ylang, infused with grounding rosewood fragrance oils reminiscent of the earthy and woodsy fragrance of trees by the lake. With top notes of bergamot and jasmine hints of the flowers growing among the trees.

Cooks Candle

Elegantly housed in a repurposed beer bottle, this long-lasting and clean burning soy candle is designed to neutralise nasty cooking odours from your home after the cooking is done and the meal enjoyed. A unique fragrance blend of Vanilla, Bergamot and Basil leaves your home smelling wonderfully fresh.

Cape Reinga

Revisit the place where two great water bodies clash before they merge. Breathe in the fresh and delightful fragrance of Cape Reinga Cliffs, a perfume that embodies the spirit of a place where an ancient Pohutukawa tree grows. With the initial whiff of bamboo, lime and ginger, the fragrance finally settles into the woodsy delicious fragrance of black cardamom and sandalwood with mid floral notes of Lily of the Valley and Jasmine.

New Zealand Pine

Fill your home with the scent of fresh New Zealand Pine. Fresh and green, this fragrance is created with pine fragrance oil featuring a top note of citrus, and bottom notes including sandalwood and musk. Skillfully poured into a re-purposed wine and beer bottles, these clean-burning soy candles are designed to burn for a long time allowing the crisp scent of pine to waft through your home.

Serving suggestions:

Lighting a Candle for the First Time

• Before lighting a candle for the first time, trim wick to approximately 10-15mm.

• When lighting a candle for the first time allow a melt pool to form across the entire top surface of the candle (this prevents tunneling, and creates an even burn for the duration of the candles life). This can take from 2-4 hours.

Trim Wicks

• After the initial lighting of a candle keep wick trimmed to 5-6mm (for best results trim before and during burn, use a wick trimmer) remove any wick debris created during the trimming process.

Extinguishing Candles

• Never blow a candle out as the wax can splash.

• The best way to extinguish a candle is with a wick dipper, simply dip the wick the into melted wax then straighten wick to prevent smoking and prevents any hot wax from splashing.

Storage:

• Always store candles in a cool, dark and dry place.

• Avoid placing candles in direct sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, such as spotlights.

• Remove dust and fingerprints from candle by gently rubbing the surface with a piece of nylon or a Soft cloth. The cloth can be dry or slightly dampened with water.
